Many patients do not have to wait years for a kidney or liver transplant. A healthy family member or friend may be able to donate a kidney or part of their liver safely. Our transplant nephrologists do not manage chronic kidney disease in place of general nephrology care. Rather, they focus on transplant evaluation, candidacy determination, and post-transplant medical management in close partnership with referring providers.

Kidney Transplant Evaluation

• Advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD stages 4–5)
• End-stage kidney disease (ESKD)
• Patients approaching dialysis or seeking pre-emptive transplantation
• Patients on dialysis interested in kidney transplantation
• Prior kidney transplant recipients with declining graft function
• Patients requiring kidney re-transplantation

Pancreas Transplant Evaluation

• Type 1 diabetes with kidney failure
• Type 1 diabetes with severe hypoglycemia or hypoglycemia unawareness
• Select patients with Type 2 diabetes, based on established clinical criteria
• Candidates for:
  • Simultaneous pancreas-kidney (SPK) transplantation
  • Pancreas-after-kidney (PAK) transplantation
  • Pancreas transplant alone (PTA)
